George
Reynolds and other Magistrates win Primary
Victories |
Several
Magistrates found success during the March
4, 2008 Primary. Magistrate George
Reynolds of the Greene County Common
Pleas Court, and a member of the OAM Board,
easily won the Republican Primary nomination
for a seat on the 2nd District Court of
Appeals amassing 71% of the vote. He will
face a Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge
in November. On the Democrat side, Judge
Glen Derryberry of the Allen County
Probate/Juvenile Court soundly defeated
his primary opponent and will face DR Magistrate
Deb Drexler in the Fall.
Judge Derryberry, a former Chief Magistrate
of that Court was appointed to the position
last November by Governor Strickland. Also
enjoying success on the Democrat side was
former Lake County DR Magistrate, Patrice
Denman, who topped
a field of four for the Juvenile Judgeship
being vacated by Retiring Judge William
Weaver. She will face Karen Lawson, a former
Public Defender/Special Prosecutor in the
FAll. We regret to report, however, that
Chief Magistrate Mary McElwee
of the Clinton County Common Pleas Court,
and also a member of the OAM Board, failed
in her bid to be the Republican Nominee
for a seat on the 12th District Court of
Appeals. |
